Bike Upgrades

The last major upgrade I have to do on my mountain bike is the fork.  I do need a new derailleur hanger as my current one is bent and causing some minor shifting issues.  I also want to shim the chainring over a bit to help with the driveline angle in the lower gears (1-5) even though it is just inboard of the “ideal” location.  Once I have the fork done, I will then start to save for the remote lockout kit for it and then it will be done until I decide I want a new seat or I wear the tires out.

Phone & such

Well,

A couple of weeks ago I managed to drop my phone and break the screen on it.  I’m not at the Apple Store in the Mall of America waiting for them to finish replacing the screen and playing around on a nice shiny new iMac Pro.  I love the screen and the touch pad on it, not sure about the keyboard and mouse yet.  I think the mouse would be ok with its speed turned up.  The keyboard just does not have near enough travel for me….

Great Cycle Challenge

Hi,

This June, I’m riding in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids’ cancer!

My goal is to ride 79 miles throughout the month.

Why am I doing this? Because cancer is the largest killer of children from disease in the United States – 38 children die of cancer every week.

My challenge will be tough, but it’s nothing compared to what these brave kids face every day of their lives as they battle this terrible disease.

Kids should be living life, NOT fighting for it.

And so I am taking on my own personal challenge to support cancer research and give these kids the brighter futures they deserve…

But I need your help.

Please support my 79 miles challenge to save little lives by making a donation through my fundraising page:

https://greatcyclechallenge.com/Riders/smccloud/d

All funds raised will support Children’s Cancer Research Fund to continue their work to develop innovative treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Thank you for your support.

Cloudflare take 2

And Cloudflare has been disabled. Even after giving it the 48 hours required, it never did start working right.

Cloudflare

Well,

I decided to try implementing Cloudflare again.  Hopefully everything works and no one has any issues with my site (you know, all three of you that visit it).

Oh so true

This is definitely true for the seasons in MN.  Although it is missing “ROAD CONSTRUCTION” from the list.

Grafana

Well,

I am automating my house using Home Assistant and having it write data to InlfuxDB so I can view said data in Grafana.  However my stupid Sensi thermostat isn’t working right.  It won’t display any data and is frustrating me to no end.

Old Computers

Well,

I was using a HP dc7900 Core 2 Duo w/ 8GB RAM, a 2 port Intel NIC, a HP P410 RAID Card & 2 500GB HDDs to run a small ESXi host to run my UniFi controller, my Plex Media Server & my home automation server.  It died on me last night so now I have to move everything elsewhere.  My UniFi controller is going back onto a Raspberry Pi 2, the home automation server onto a Raspberry Pi 3 with Hassbian and then Plex Media Server back onto our desktop.  Not to happy about this, but hopefully at some point in the server I can come up with the money to get a Core i5 system so I can run everything on one box.  Just frustrating because I had just set it up Sad smile

Cute Shoveling Helper

Last night we got around 6” of snow.  Since the plow company doesn’t get everything we have to shovel some of the snow.  Well today Lucas decided he wanted to help me.  He did a good job until the end when he started to get distracted.  I can however say that he was a super cute helper.

My First Jeep

I was going through some old pictures recently and found the last pictures I have of the first Jeep I ever owned.  A 1991 Jeep Cherokee that did a good job of protecting me when I hit the green Chevy Malibu Maxx the last two pictures are of.  It was not a good day.
